James Arthur Ray could have used First Nations concepts without robbing the Traditional Culture by not charging his guests money to experience the sweat lodge. He also wasn't really considered certified as you could tell by letting 50+ people in one sitting and using things like fiberglass while natives only used resources they had by mother earth.
